The BRIO commercial RO system CROS4607 is a reverse osmosis system used to demineralize water with a salt content up to 1,500 ppm in industrial, municipal, and commercial applications. It is intended for low to medium salinity feed water. The system is built around a carbon steel skid and comprises a high pressure pump, an array of six pressure vessels with membranes, a power cabinet, a process controller, and the valves and instruments required for operation. In operation, the high pressure pump feeds water into the membrane array, where it separates into permeate and concentrate streams. Permeate is sent to the permeate outlet and collected in a water tank, with a pressure switch on the permeate line that halts the unit when significant pressure builds up. Part of the concentrate stream is discharged to drain through the drain rotameter, while the remainder is returned to the pump suction through the recycle rotameter. Drain and recycle flow rates are regulated to specified ranges using the valves built into the rotameters. The unit is managed by the Brio OC5000 process controller, which receives permeate temperature and conductivity, permeate level, pressure switch statuses, and external inhibition signals, and operates the system across Service, Standby, Forward Flush, Stop, and Fault modes. The system has a rated capacity of 12,000 GPD under reference conditions of 74 °F, 375 ppm feed water using DuPont FilmTec XLE PRO-4040 membranes. With the concentrate recycle line configured, permeate recovery of up to 75% is achievable. A sediment filter must be installed ahead of the RO system; a polypropylene cartridge with a filtration rate of 5 microns is recommended. Tap feed water must be pre-filtered to remove fine particles and chlorine before entering the system, and well water may require additional pretreatment based on laboratory analysis. The unit is for indoor installation only and must not be exposed to weather. Electrical installation must be performed by a qualified electrician.
