The BRIO commercial RO system CROS4577 is a compact reverse osmosis unit built for demineralizing low- to medium-salinity feed water in commercial, municipal, and industrial applications. It is rated for feed water with a salt content up to 1500 ppm. The system is assembled on a carbon steel skid and comprises a high pressure pump, a single pressure vessel with one 4-inch membrane, a power cabinet, a process controller, and the valves and instruments required for operation. In operation, the high pressure pump feeds water into the membrane, where it separates into a permeate (purified water) stream and a concentrate stream. Permeate flows to the permeate outlet for collection in a storage tank; a pressure switch on the permeate line halts the unit if pressure builds, indicating a full tank or a closed downstream line. Part of the concentrate is discharged to drain, and the remainder is returned to the pump suction through a recycle line, which supports a permeate recovery of up to 75%. The unit uses the OC5000 process controller, which monitors permeate temperature and conductivity, permeate tank level, pressure switch status, and external inhibition signals, and displays permeate TDS and temperature. Adjustable pressure switches, dry-run protection, and high-pressure protection are included to guard the pump and membrane. A sediment prefilter must be installed ahead of the system; a 5-micron polypropylene cartridge is recommended. Feed water must be pre-filtered for fine particles and chlorine before entering the system, as chlorine will damage the membrane. The unit is for indoor installation only and electrical work should be performed by a qualified electrician.
